Well the end of your fight has come, and the suffering gone. Now the gateway to forever is open and your heavenly voice will be gracing God forever. You will be missed by all who have been blessed to hear or know you. Our prayers go out to your family and every one of your fans. We have all lost a great inspiration and friend.
Godspeed Dan.

Such a very, very
sad day. Rest in Peace Dan. ~

A beautiful voice has been silenced. It grieves me to know that such a beautiful human being has been taken too soon. I never had the chance to see you in concert...but your music enlightened me since the day I was first introduced to it (May 1977). You may be gone but your music is your legacy and will liver forever in the hearts and souls of those you have touched. God Bless you and your family. ~ Lori
I can't begin to express the sadness I feel today at learning of the passing of this wonderful man, Dan Fogelberg.
I feel as if I have lost a friend. I know it's probably very cliche to say that I have been personally moved by more than one or two of Dan's songs.Thankfully over the years I have spent on radio, I have had the pleasure of exposing others to his wonderful music and expressing my thoughts, when able, about the songs.
Rest in peace my friend. ~
Ted Bradford -
Syracuse, New York
My deepest regrets and thoughts are with Dan's family and friends, the world
has lost a good soul who brought immense joy to those of us who heard his
words and music. ~
A long time fan.
Rest now in peace Dan, and thanks for a great life of music that will go on
forever!
~ Clayton and Lora Martyn - Danville Illinois
How shocked I was to find out that Dan passed away today. Having grown up
about sixty miles away and being four years younger, he was always someone I
admired and respected because he was "one of us". The thoughts he expressed
in his songs always seemed to resonate with me, especially of those in "Leader
of the Band". My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this sad time. ~
Kevin Conner
His spirit, so beautifully reflected in his poetic musings, will forever touch
the lives of those who find joy, peace and solace in his writings. There never
has been, nor will there be, an artist who has touched MY life as deeply as he
has. My prayers and well-wishes today, are for the Fogelberg family. The
body is gone, but the soul will live on forever....
Dan, Thank you so much for the great music. I was saddened to hear of Dan's passing this morning. I had been hoping against hope that he would beat the cancer. May God bless Dan, and may he have a joyous reunion with his father. My condolences to his wife, family and all who loved his music. ~
Cathy
I'm devastated over Dan's passing. To say his music touched my soul doesn't
even come close. I've loved him and his music since I was 15 and I'm now 47.
His music permeated my life and helped form and define some of my best and
closest friendships. Dan will always live on. Godspeed Dan, you'll always be
loved. ~

Thanks Dan for all the years of wonderful music. "Same Old Lang Syne" becomes especially poignant now. Rest in peace.
Dan was the first male singer songwriter that I knew of. His gentle
understanding of life and his way of making the mundane something special are
incredible gifts that he gave the world. I wish him peace after a long hard battle. Peace ~
Noel
You've gone home now. May Jean feel all the comfort and love that so many of us are wishing for her. Your music is the first thing I want to hear when I get there. Till then ~ Marcine
I'm in shock over hearing the passing of Dan Fogelberg. He played at my
alma mater (Northeast Louisiana University) in the early 1970s and I've been
listening to his music ever since. I saw him when he came to Tulsa several
years ago and he was truly spectacular. The heavens will now be filled with
his wondrous music.
God bless and rest in peace ~
John

To Jean and all Dan's family, friends and fans,
Dan's music touched me deeply from the moment I first heard one of his songs, and his "Greatest Hits" is my most often played album. In fact, it's in my tape player right now. We all share in this loss of this talented musical genius. His music will live on, as will our memories of him. God bless you all. ~

feel! Such a gift. You are all in my prayers. ~

To say I am saddened at the passing of Dan is an understatement. One of my fondest memories was when my elementary chorus teacher taught us" Leader of the Band". The song came to mean so much to me. " Innocent Age" is one of my family's favorite cd's. My mother and I can't help but tear up whenever we listen to "Run for the Roses". Dan will live on in our hearts every time we listen to his music. Our sympathies to you all. God bless. ~

God bless you, Dan. You touched countless lives by sharing the music of your soul, and we have all been blessed to hear the songs inside of you. You will always be in our hearts ~ Greg
I am extremely saddened to hear of Dan's passing. His music has been an integral part of my life and through it I got to know him a little. I will pray (already did) for him and his family.

I am heartbroken to hear the sad news. Dan, you will live forever in our hearts and souls. My thoughts are with Jean and the family. ~ Lisa
It was the 80's and so much of the music just didn't do much for this
small
town country girl. But I was romanced by the lyrics and words of so many of
Dan's songs. It's been 24 years later and the emotions that were evoked way
back then come to me today as well. Gentleness, hope, love, tenderness,
faith.and family.
Appreciating all of these emotions in a self-seeking generation was what I
connected to. Thank you for the music and the love and passion you shared
with the world and opening up your life during your battle with prostate
cancer to touch another generation in a helpful and healing manner. Dignity,
love and compassion are just a few of the wonderful words that I believe
encompass the soul you were and you will always be, "The Leader of the
Band."
Today, instead of listening to Christmas music, I had this need to pick up
my CD of his and play it. I went to the computer and googled his name to see
what was going on his life today and that's when I saw the headline of his
passing. I was thankful to be listening to his music today. The odds of me
listening to that CD today were slim. But I believe in the "little things"
that just happen for a reason. My heartfelt love and prayers go to the
family members that are left to miss his presence but rejoice in his life
that he lived. God Bless you all ~
Aneisha Rush
Dan,
Go well on your new journey, your music has been an inspiration to me in

So sorry to hear about Dan's passing. He left behind a wonderful legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Love ~ a fan whose all-time favorite song is "Same Old Lang Syne"
Dan,
Since the age of 14, I have been an avid fan. Thank you for the encouragement to play the guitar, something that I still do at 44. I cried when I heard the news a few moments ago. It's as if a close friend has died, then I realize that for 30 years you have been just that. I grew up with you and I will miss you.
Thank you for sharing my life. I will share your work with my young son so that he can dream amongst the words and music that you have created, just as I did. ~
Lisa West
My thoughts and prayers to Dan's family this winter night. His light has gone out, but he will never die--we will all hold his music dear in our hearts. Peace be with you all. ~ Melinda

A fan for many years
Dan's music will live on in the spirit of those who listen to his beautiful soul. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
When my father passed away in 1996 we played "Leader Of The Band " at his services. Dan will always hold a special place in my heart because I cry every time I hear that song.

My thoughts go out to Jean at this sorrowful time. Dan was an inspiration
to me from the first time I heard his music. He and his legacy to the world
will live on through his music. May God bless you.
I wish I could find words to express what Dan's music has meant to my
husband and me over the 30 years we've been married. My husband sings beautifully
as well, and I sing harmony with him, and we have learned and sung many of
Dan's songs over the years. So many favorites - "Leader of the Band", "Wysteria","
Stars"... I just can't name them all.
I am so saddened by this loss. My love goes to his wife and family. ~

It was with profound sadness that I read that Dan had died. His music touched my husband and I deeply. One of my favorite songs of Dan's was "The Sand and the Foam." What a gorgeous voice! My heartfelt condolences go out to Jean and I pray she will find peace and comfort in knowing that Dan's spirit will forever live on through his music. We will miss him. ~ Daniel & Teresa
I have just heard of Dan's passing. A great loss for us all but most especially his wife Jean and family.
I first heard Dan's voice in Memphis, Tn. one evening after band practice. I was getting a ride home with Carl who was a studio musician in Nashville and had heard this "new guy". He played a tape of "Home Free" and I was immediately a lifelong fan.
At my wedding in 1980, Carl sang "Longer". I finally got to see Dan in concert on June 10, 1985 in Memphis. The next day my son Daniel Joseph was born. We have three sons now who all play guitar and all know Dan Fogelberg songs.
Be assured that he has many "living legacies" out here who will continue to bring life to his music.
Rest in Peace, dear Dan. ~

God speed, Dan. May your music be among the angels now.
I am so very sorry to learn of Dan's death today. I am a huge (but very quiet) fan and
loved his music so very much.
I know your loss is profound and deep, and for that I can only hope that you will endure
and carry on in his love.
I will pray for your comfort in the days and years ahead.
Please know that I have found comfort in his songs and I am sad to learn of his passing.
Take good care. ~

Heartbroken. No other way to put it.
I am writing this from my sick bed, where I have been fighting numerous
infections over the last week. As has been a pattern during my life, I have sung
to myself many of the songs that Dan wrote. So it is with such deep sadness
that I feel in writing this message. To all that have loved Dan's artistry, to
all that had the honor to love him in life, I send out my sorrow and love.
What a wonderful contribution he has made to the songs of life. He was so able
to capture deep feeling and warmth with his words and voice. Oh he is missed
already! ~
Namaste, Susan Weiss
Thank you for all the music. You will be missed. My deepest sympathy

brought peace to my life. Jean, may God be with you and yours through this hard

Dear Jean, The world lost a tremendous treasure today at 6:00am. He and his music meant the world to me. Two of the songs, especially, "Leader of the Band" (which reminds me of my Dad who is in Heaven), and "Run For The Roses" (which reminds me of my missing daughter since 1993).. I lost both of them that year. I have no other family. How blessed you were to have him as your life's partner. I am a 48 year old man who is disabled. Dan's music meant the world to me.
With my deepest prayers ~
Robert Miller
I just read the news and tears came to my eyes. When "Home Free" came out I bought the album and immediately tried to draw your picture. You were/are so incredibly beautiful. I fell in love the first time to "Stars" . When I saw you in concert about 12 years ago I brought a bouquet of flowers with me and tucked a poem inside. My husband had no idea how much your music meant to me, he just thought I was a crazy fan. Maybe I am, but you have touched my heart. All I can say is there are some lucky angels listening to your music in heaven.
Oh the news today. So sad, it made me cry. I'm thinking about you Dan and
really want to believe in heaven so maybe I might meet you someday. ~

When I received the news of Dan's passing, it was only fitting that the lyrics of one of his songs came to mind. . ."I knew the lonely days had just begun."
Another awesome musician enters rock and roll Heaven. I will hear him in the thunderstorms. I pray for an end to all Cancer. This disease has taken so much from so many. I am so sorry. Love and strength to you. ~ Margo
I am extremely saddened to hear the news of Mr. Fogelberg's passing. I
want his family to know I am saying a prayer for them as they move forward
without his physical presence in their lives. I also wanted to say that I
have always and will continue to enjoy this wonderful music that gave so
much to my generation and those before it. Several of his songs have lifted
my spirits when I needed them to and helped me get "whatever it was" out of
my system when I needed that as well. Godspeed Dan!
To his family, thank you for sharing him with the world. He was a blessing to
those of us who loved his music. ~

a lot of other people. I don't know what to say but that you are not alone in your
loss. We all lost a lot today. May God bless you at this time. Your friend ~ Larry M.

Thank you and farewell ~ MCI
Whew. Dan Fogelberg dared to show and do something sensitive and lovely rather than "tough" and that sort of spirit in music needs to exist.
Love to all who will miss him. May you have plenty of smiles amid the sadder moments.
Best ~

Jean,
Neither my wife nor I knew of Dan’s illness until we learned of his passing today on our local news broadcast. Both Kathy and I were very saddened with the news, having loved Dan’s music for the last 30 years. Twin Sons of Different Mothers was my wife’s way of introducing me to soft jazz, weaning me off of my steady diet of hard rock. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s, we attended many, many concerts and saw all of the big names and flashy acts that toured back then.
But for both of us, the best concert that we ever attended and our all time favorite was when Dan came to Seattle in the late 70’s, performing in the Seattle Center Arena to a packed crowd of several thousand fans. With no warm-up act, Dan came out onto a small stage that had three guitars and a piano. Then for the next 2 hours and 45 minutes, he played and sang his heart out, touching us all deeply. Powerful and forceful at times, soft and gentle at others, Dan delivered a performance the likes of which other artists could only dream of. Absolutely amazing – I still get the shivers just recounting it to you now.
You are in our thoughts and our prayers. God speed, Dan. We will miss you. ~
Stan JauJou
Dear Dan,
Thank you for your great music.Your music meant so much to me as a teenager and young adult. Whenever I hear your music it brings me back to that era of my life. ~
Brian Walsh
It is with a heavy heart that I write these words.
For today, the world has lost an amazing talent...a extremely prolific songwriter and a gentle, loving, steward of our planet.
I have been a fan of Dan's from when I could first pick up a guitar.
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform many times, and each time...it left a profound footprint in my life.
Dan's music truly was the soundtrack of my life...always there.
Privileged to have met him on two occasions, I found him to be a warm and giving person.
I offer my deepest condolences to his wife, Jean, and to his family. Having lost my father to cancer earlier this year, my heart and my prayers go out to you. I know how deeply this hurts.
This world will never be the same...and his gift to us will sound ever on!
Via con dios, my friend.
Sincerely ~

I was very sad to hear that one of my long time heroes died this morning. I'm sure if you're on this website reading this, Dan has touched your life in some way with his music. His music inspired me to be a better person and on a rough day nothing made me feel better than to come home from work and listen to his album, Nether Lands. I'm only 22 years old and wasn't around to see him in his prime but I did get to catch his last two tours. He may have flown under the radar in the later half of his career, but to me and many long time fans his words and music were a inspiration to live life to fullest and to be the best I could be. Thanks for the music Dan. You will be sorely missed by more people than you could have imagined.
I loved his music from the moment I heard it. We were at Auburn University in the 1970s when I was introduced to his music. I might say it helped catch my wife of 30 years romancing her with his music. Never grew tired of the wonderful music and lyrics he produced.I still have it on my IPOD ~

God Bless Jean and the rest of Dan's family. I have lost a brother and a friend today, one who has helped me thought the last 30 years - bringing much joy, needed introspection, encouragement, and relief from pain in my darkest times. I first saw Dan at U Florida's O'Connel Center in 1981, and just yesterday watched my oldest daughter graduate from UF in the very same building. Somehow, this circle seems complete, but I am so stunned and at a loss for words, but the feelings continue to flood in.
Thank you for all you have done for me - if I can only do for one what you have done for so many, I will consider myself a contributor to the planet.
I love you - Godspeed. ~
Tim
It was sad to read today that Dan has passed. I remember listening to him writing the lyrics for "Looking for a Lady" at the Red Herring at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 1970-1971. He had the gift and one of the few artists who could become one with his guitar. He will be missed. ~ Gary Wood
Farewell Dan.....you will be greatly missed.
When I was 12 years old, back in the mid 1970's, I listened to the album "Home Free" endlessly. My family had a vegetarian restaurant in Phoenix,AZ. (kind of ahead of its time). We played albums for background music in the restaurant and Dan Fogelberg records were played daily. Sometime later I remember the album "Souvenirs" coming out, which I also played endlessly. Through the years I purchased most or all of the later albums listening to the music and following his career.
I was also fortunate enough to have seen Dan in concert twice in the 70's, once solo and once with Tim Weisberg....absolutely fabulous concerts. I was a teenager in love, in love with Dan Fogelberg and in love with the music. What a great artist. Thank you so much Dan for your sweet songs. I am sad to hear of your passing today, but take solace in knowing you are truly home free.
Blessings to all of Dan's family and friends. May you find peace at this time ~

It was with great sadness that I read the news about the passing of Dan Fogelberg. I lost my dad in 2000 at the age of 80. In Dad's eulogy I quoted Dan's "Living Legacy" chorus and looked at each of his seven grandchildren and told them that they were "his" living legacy. This song has and always will be one of my favorites. The world will miss his gentle soul and ballads that made me and so many pause and think and smile.
My most heartfelt sympathies to his family....he will always be with us. ~

Dear Jean,
I'm sorry for your loss. My husband died at 43 from
bladder cancer (ironically initially diagnosed as
prostatic Ca). Our "wedding song was "Longer," and so
I'm deeply touched by your loss. They say it gets
easier, it just gets different. I've raised 3 great
kids alone and now will think of Dan as well as my
husband when I hear "Longer" (and all of Dan's other
songs too). I wish you well. ~ Robin Straus, Miami,
FL
I've just read that Dan passed this morning. I'm so sorry. To this day, "Same Old Lang Syne" brings me to my knees, the midwestern teenager still inside this 41-year-old. I didn't know love then, but I felt it in poetry, in music, and this song whispered the future to me. And "Leader of the Band" brought me to tears then too, a son's pride for his father making my own heart burst. I can't imagine what Jean is going through now; he seemed like such a wonderful man. I'm so grateful for all his music, for what he gave. Thank you, Dan. ~ Debbie, New York
I am truly saddened. I am a 50 year old male that has listened to Fogelberg forever. I fell in love with my wife listening to his music. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and friends.
I will load all cd's in the truck tonight! ~

Many years ago when I was in high school I was introduced to Dan's music. I was rebellious but his music always seemed to know how I was feeling with his honest eloquent lyrics. His music bridged a gap between my mother and I many years later with the song "Run for The Roses". Last year I was even given a record player for Christmas so I could listen Nether Lands, Home Free and Twin Sons of Different Mothers. His song "To The Morning" will always be my favorite and I will think of him always as I listen to it.
Man I am so sorry to hear this news. Started playing Dan's songs on the guitar 30 years ago, that's virtually all I ever played. We have really lost a Legend.
Many could write an entire book about the songs, the voice, the inspiration and the life.
All I can think of is "Thank You".
Rest in Peace and the love of God.
Prayers for you and yours.
Sincerely ~
Tom Ronollo
I am so saddened that Dan finally lost his fight against cancer. He inspired my soul so much with his beautiful voice and music. I can't believe it will be silenced now. My prayers are with his family and friends. He's singing with the angels now... ~
Robyne Henderson
Dan's music made you feel like you knew him and he was your old buddy. The news of his passing had left me numb. He was a great singer / songwriter, a master of his craft. The Leader of the Band. He will be missed.
I had no idea Dan was suffering from cancer. The news a minute ago of his passing struck me very hard.
To his wife Jean, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please know how much Dan touched all of our lives, and he lives on through his music every day, and for generations to come. What a blessing when such a talent shares it with others, and spreads such happiness. The physical life is only a small part of the picture; the spirit lives on and on, and we will all be reunited someday, please take comfort in that Jean. And, most importantly, your husband's love for you lives forever.
As a closer, to all men out there, I am 50 this coming January. I have had PSA tests and prostate exams every year for the last 15 years, and it's a breeze. The only hang up you could have is psychological. Honor yourself, and honor Dan and his living memory by getting tested regularly. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.
God Bless you Jean, and God bless and take care of Dan. ~

I wasn't a ''number 1 fan'' type of mentality with Dan Fogelberg music...BUT as being acquainted with music in some shape or fashion literally my whole life I can say that the song ''Same Old Lang Syne'' is the most well written, well structured and emotionally capturing the feelings of school memories and love as any song ever written. It is truly a masterpiece of writing and arranging. DAN is/was a genius I say 'IS' because he will live on through his music as the rest of us continue on by living through our children ...his songs ARE his children ..
I just logged on to my computer after playing and singing a few songs on the guitar with my 4 year old son. I read the news on the internet news web page. I am very saddened to hear of Dan's passing, I have listened to his music for almost 30 years and play some of his songs on my guitar for my 4 year old who is recovering from autism. I have a couple of his songbooks near my piano. Since I didn't know of his battle with prostate cancer the news was sudden and unexpected to me. I have always loved his music and played his songs on my guitar whenever I get some free time. This a huge loss for many of us who are long term fans going back to the 70's. For me it's like a family member has died. I wish his wife Jean the very best and that she knows that her husband was loved by many, many people all over the world, including me. We have lost one of the Greatest Singer/Songwriters of all time, but he will never be forgotten. ~
Charles Beaton
It is so sad to hear of Dan's passing. May his family endure this period of
grief with the knowledge that so many of us feel he enriched our lives,
either entertaining us, informing us, touching our emotions and by
reminding us of what is hard and challenging in life. And at the same
time, reminding us of so much beauty.
I am very sad. Many of us felt Dan said goodbye to us over these
past years, but then, with so many songs, he will live within us and with
all who love music as the years bring us back to Dan.
~ Barry Nisman/Plainview NY
Dan's beautiful words and music guided me through the most important times in my life. They saved me in high school, inspired me in college, celebrated with me at my wedding, allowed me to return to quiet cherished memories during my child rearing years and most recently, nourished me through a divorce. My heart hurts for you, Jean, and for the rest of us. One day we'll all understand. ~ Mary Bolt
I first heard Dan's awesome music as a young married man- the emotion and perfect message in "Since You Asked" enthralled me. I played the LP for my new wife over and over and savored the clarity of thought, and appreciated the purity of love. You will be missed, my friend.
Thanks for your presence in this spectrum we call life. Many thanks for your music. My prayers are with you. Thank you ~ FRANCISCO ENCISO CABRAL
I feel very fortunate to have seen Dan perform at three different times in my life. The first time was at an outdoor concert at the Greek Theater in California. He had just come out with the Wild Places Album. It was such a great night under the stars and listening to him sing with just the piano or guitar. It almost felt as if he was singing just for me, although there were many others there feeling just the same. Thank you Dan.
Next, he was doing a tribute to Nicolette Larson, who had recently passed away in Santa Monica, CA. That night was about 5000 to 6000 of us there enjoying the moment and getting caught up together in celebrating another singer's short life.
These "special" moments in time will never be forgotten. HE is and always will be one of our greatest musicians. Dan will be missed for a very long time. I'm so thankful for the music he made and has left for us to continue enjoying throughout our lives.
Peace and blessings to his family and sweet wife. You were blessed to have him for only a short time. I'm sure you both enjoyed your lives together. One day soon we will all reunite again and what a grand celebration that will be. Dan touched us all in many different ways. Thank you for sharing your husband with the fans.
Take care and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Good-bye dearest Dan. You WILL be missed! Sincerely ~
A Dan Fogelberg Fan 4-Ever--Rita
Dear Jean,
Just a note to let you know how very sad I am to hear of Dan's passing.
His music was something which I turned to several times a year. And when
I did, I was instantly reminded of how talented he was at expressing the
things that make us human. I am not a man of faith but I hope that you will find the strength to
weather Dan's passing in knowing that millions of people around the
world will mourn with you and continue to listen to his music and
remember the man who moved us so powerfully. My sincere condolences on your loss... and ours. ~ Graham Stevens, British Columbia, Canada
Dan’s music has been such a great part of my life for so many years. I am so
sorry he lost his battle. There are broken hearts all over the world.
The day he died is the day I learned he was ill. So sorry to lose him and his talent. He made some of the most beautiful music of my lifetime.
Dan's music is the soundtrack to my life. My thoughts and prayers are with Jean, your friends and family! ~

I just heard of Dan Fogelberg's death and am truly sorry. The song "Same Old
Lang Syne" is a song that I cannot even express how much I love. It holds
deep memories, deep feelings, and every time I hear the piano start at the
beginning of the song-I am transported back to a special place and time. He
was a great songwriter and will be missed. To his family: losing someone
is the worst pain ever, but you have his legacy of music to carry you
through to when it doesn't hurt as much as it used to. Fondly-a.f.
Rest in Peace: We loved his music.
A great balladeer and storyteller passed away today.
God must have been short on people who share their happiness with their voices.
It was early 80's and clearly remember my first love as I listened to the beautiful words of "Longer" as I held her hand. I became a long-life fan of his right there in there. It has been cold in Colorado but I will listen to my favorite DF's CD to warm my heart and to think about his God-given talent that made us forget life just a little. We all are a little older and somehow his ballads have made our journey a happier event. Sometimes we even became better human beings.
We have lost someone who made a difference in the lives of others and he may wait for us in eternal heaven. MAY GOD BLESS YOU DAN. Be strong Jean for we had him for a while and he now sings for the creator.
From Colorado ~

I was so saddened to hear of Dan's passing.
His music comforted me, entertained me, made me dance, and made me think.
I am sadder than I ever expected to be when grieving someone I'd never met.
Prayers and love to his family and friends.
With sadness I send these words. I was sorry to learn of Dan's passing. I never
knew him as a person only through his music. His words had deep thoughts and
deep meanings. Dan, Rest In Peace and God Bless.... ~ Sam

I am so sorry to read the news of Dan's passing. Several years ago when I
heard the news that he had advanced prostate cancer, I had hoped that he
would somehow beat the odds. He was only a couple of years older than I, and I 'grew up' listening to his
music. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but nevertheless feel a
loss at the news of his passing. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. ~

Washington State
To the family of Dan, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer. She was also 56. It has been three years now and I wish I could tell you it gets easier. Although, she was not famous she was the star of my life as I know Dan was yours. God bless.
I'm so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. His beautiful poetry in song so deeply
touched my life...a dear friend of mine who lives in Fla. still remembers the
many nights he spent at my home listening to my Dan Fogelberg records (and
singing along). There was nothing as peaceful and uplifting and wonderful as a glass of wine, candlelight, and Dan Fogelberg singing on my stereo (and singing along, of course!).
His music was so aching and haunting and beautiful; upbeat, relevant, simply PERFECT and just brought back such feelings of having been there - emotionally. I know he must have been the most wonderful man to have lived his life the way he did and be able to write such awesome music. He was worlds beyond mere talent!
To his family - Thanks for sharing Dan with us. I'm sure it was a hard road at times and thanks are just inadequate - but some of us will never be the same for having known him and been touched by him through his incredible music.
I hope you are all comforted by the faith and knowledge that Dan is in a better place. The pain of losing someone we love is so intense and cannot be easily comforted and I know it is trite to say he's in a better place, but he has no pain now.
I wish you peace, strength, love, and that God's arms are wrapped around you in love at this time and always. I wish you to know Dan's love and peace.
God Bless you ~
Carol Ward
Thank You, God Bless you Dan... GOOD NIGHT!
I am too crushed for words. Your energy has lived in my life for years.
Shine a light down on us all.

Always one of my favorite artists. Lots of wonderful associations to my younger years with his music. He will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and condolences...
Now we have a new star in the heavens. Your death saddens me terribly. I've been
a fan of your music for 30 years, seen you in concerts all over Ohio. Your music
has always reached a special place inside me. Nothing will change that. You will
always be alive through your songs. But I'll miss you. My sympathy to your
family & friends.... ~ Nicci
I am deeply saddened to learn of Dan's passing. I lost my father at the
young age of 57 to cancer, so I am more familiar with these feelings that
you all are feeling now than I wish to be. I am very, very sorry for your
loss. It will never be the Same Old Lang Syne ever again. ~
Steve
And another beautiful angel has flown home. Your voice lives on in our souls forever. ~

My prayers are with you. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye so soon. ~ Joby-st charles,mo
To Dan's Family and Friends,
When I heard of Dan's passing, I reflected on the way his music affected me for over 30 years. I still can't listen to many of his songs without tears coming to my eyes. His music touched me in a way no other singer could. It was straight to the heart. The sadness in his death also went the same route as his music... Straight to the heart.
My sympathy and condolences to his wife, family, and friends. ~
Toni K.
My sincerest condolences to DF's wife Jean and family on the loss of a lovely man and his lovely music. He will be remembered always through his music. ~
Meggy M,, Searsport, Maine
How sad I was to learn of Dan's battle with cancer, and that he has left us
now for a better place. I fell asleep to his music every night during my
four years of college in the late 70's, and his music still has the power to
soothe and calm me to this day. His song, "Longer", was our first dance song at
our wedding. Dan, you have been such an important part of my life. You
will be missed. Now you are truly free to sing with the angels. ~
Debbie Wilde
Dan,
I'm deeply saddened to learn of your passing. I have enjoyed your music for many years and will continue to enjoy the music the rest of my life. There are very few people, on this great Earth of ours, who have the opportunity to make a profound and positive impact, let alone a legacy of such beautiful music. Thank you, and I will miss you.~ Tim
To Jean and Family. Our hearts are saddened today of the news of Dan. He will be missed but his music will forever in our hearts. Glad we have Old Records and a few CDs. Prostate Cancer has hit our family too and we are blessed to have found it early. Men, Please get your tests and get this important news to your sons and brothers ~ The Spriggs Family
So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. His music holds a special place in my heart, especially "The Reach" as my father was a fisherman and we had a very estranged relationship. To Dan's lovely wife Jean, take strength in the knowledge that others share your pain and wish you well. ~ Jan Prosser, Australia
My Sympathies to his dear wife, family, and friends. I am 34, married
with 3 year old twins. I started singing his songs as a kid. His music has
touched my heart and singing along to his songs lifted the weights off of my
heart and always set me free. I was listening to his song "Same Old Lang Syne" and my
twins like to sing. I was watching it on You-Tube. Than I saw RIP
appear. I started crying, like I just lost my best friend. We all did. "The
leader of the band is tired and his eyes are growing old but his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul."
Thanks for the music, Dan. Thanks to his wife, family and friends. No one could sing like this without the love and support of everyone and their love of life, their understanding of life. I am profoundly sorry for your loss. My twins will know who he was, what a beautiful heart and what wonderful words were in his songs. I played his music to them when I was pregnant and would sing to them in the car. Godspeed. Thanks for making life easier to live. We will miss you but your music will never be forgotten. ~ Anne Beaulieu
May the blessed winds carry the Minstrel home, may his poetry and song live in
our hearts.
My deepest condolences on Dan's passing.
Dan's music will forever live in the hearts of his fans. He left this gift
to so many. My prayers are with you Jean - your loss is great and the pain
must be unbearable. Take comfort in knowing time will heal and Dan is among
the Angels bringing another beautiful voice to the heavens. We are all here
for a short time and you will be reunited one day. God bless you and your
family.
I just heard of your passing, and I am writing to you as I know you can hear. I am so sad. Yet, I am so happy that you lived your life filled to the
brim of wearing your heart on your sleeve for all to hear. All of us are just
passing. You helped so many with their journey. My thoughts are with your
family. ~

was. My prayers and thoughts are with you. ~ Sandy

I'm Sorry for your loss. My kids lost their Father one year ago to cancer.
The loss is felt each and every day, and the only thing that keeps us going is
the strength he showed and his wonderful Faith in God.
God bless you and yours ~

Dear Family & Friends of Dan Fogelberg,
I just read where Dan had passed away - and it saddens me *greatly*.
Dan's music was wonderful and inspiring - much like the man I suppose that he was.
I am listening to some of his music right now - while weeping and singing to his songs.
Although I am not a deeply religious man, I *will* say a prayer with his passing...
He will be missed.
Respectfully ~
Michael,
Telluride, Colorado
I wanted to say something comforting at this time that you surely need it most. But all
I can think to say is that a world of prayers are coming your way as you mourn the loss
of your beloved Dan. We will all miss him and he will live on through his music.
Warmest regards ~
Janet Marcotte
I was absolutely shocked to hear of Dan's passing today. I can't tell you how sorry I
am, but I can tell you Dan's music will keep his memory alive forever. I was a teenager
in the 1970's and remember how much his music meant, and still means to me. I wore out
the Souvenirs album and had to re-purchase it. I still have all his albums in my
collection. His music got me through some tough times in my life.
He was an excellent musician and seemed to communicate exactly what I was feeling in his
songs. I loved the way he composed songs like "Man in the Mirror" with it flowing into "Below the Surface". I'm so glad I lived in the same time as he did. I'm a better
person for growing up with his music in my life.
I wish his family all the best and hope they are doing well.
I'm going to miss you Dan...
Take care ~
Alan Rothberg
My deepest sympathy to Dan's family and the world. The choirs of heaven have
a wonderful voice to add to their ranks.
My parents took my brothers and I to a concert in St. Paul in the mid 80s and I still remember it (I am 29 now)!
Growing up, I never imagined what my dress, hair, or make-up for my wedding day would be like until I got engaged last December. BUT, I always knew, since I was a little girl, that I would have the song, "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg! I was married this summer on June 30th and you wouldn't believe how many compliments I received on my choice of music. Dan Fogelberg and John Lennon graced the chapel and I truly felt the words of these great musicians.
I am so sad for your family--may you rest in peace! ~
Emily Olin, St. Paul, MN
Dan and his family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Dan's music inspired me throughout my life. I was in my teens when I first fell in love with his music. He will be missed and I can honestly say, that he was the only singer/songwriter that I have ever cried for. I'll miss you Dan.
Dan will be greatly missed. Our family has enjoyed his music for many
years. I know this is a great loss
to the music industry as well as to his family.
I wish there were words I could say to make this time easier, but time heals
all pain.
He will be truly missed. ~
Sharon Glick
Dan, thank you for years of loving music. It sure gave me perspective when I needed it!
Rest in His loving arms.
~A loving Fan
Jean,
I can only imagine the loss you must feel at this time. You knew Dan like none of us, but what we did know of Dan was greatness. I don't know how to start telling you what Dan and his music meant to me. As a young piano player, anytime I could, I would listen to Dan's music or go to his concerts. It was Dan's music, the sharing of his heart and experiences that helped me through my toughest times, even when I lost my wife to breast cancer when she was 44 and I was 39. Dan's music surrounded our friendship and love in that wonderful relationship and even today reminds me of her unending love. I would have dreams of playing music with Dan, but I guess that will have to wait until I get to the other side now. I am quite sure that my Cathy is telling Dan right now what an inspiration he was in my life and my music.
Jean, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great loss. He is always with you and always will be. We have all lost a wonderful human being and great musician. Our greatest tribute to Dan would be for us to be our best as human beings, feel what we must, act from our hearts, and love generously. I wish you comfort and peace.
Sincerely ~
Antonio Molnar
Thank you for a life time of sweet music...mnm
The gift Dan has given to the world is immeasurable. The beauty of his music
will live on in our hearts and souls forever. I am an Australian musician who grew up listening to Dan's music and lyrics and was always in awe of his ability to draw the passion from every note and every word. He inspired me to write and I think there will always be a little bit of Dan in every song I write and from the 'bottom of my heart' I am truly grateful and a million times richer for having discovered Dan's music and the person behind it. Thank you...Thank you...Thank you...~ Russell Vitnell....Yamba...Australia.
My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Dan's wife and family. I had the privilege of growing up with his music, and I am glad we saw him perform in Lake Tahoe three or four years ago. He had a lot of great hits but my favorite song is "Same Old Lang Syne" as it is magical and so are my memories tied to this song. He will be missed. Sincerely ~ Kristine Lambert, San Ramon, CA
Dan - You were a crucial part of the soundtrack to the most carefree time of my life. Part of my youth has passed with you. Thank you for the gift of your music, and may it continue to give comfort to your loved ones.
My deepest thoughts of love I am sending to you. I just found out that Dan died, and Jean, we don't know each other, I live 45 miles east of San Francisco, but I want to tell you, that when I was growing up in the early 70's, Dan's words and music pulled me through and lifted me up, in my happiest dancing on-the-beach, running past the waves joyful times and lifted me up and held onto me tight to get me through the darkest of times, and for that I will be forever grateful to him. I will never drive on Highway One through gorgeous Big Sur, our stunning majestic California coast, without thinking of him, because that is what I usually played. God bless you, and God bless Dan. I am so sorry for your loss. ~ Nancy Johnsen, Livermore, CA
Sorry to hear about Dan. As a DJ in Maine in the early 70's I felt attached to his songs over the years and enjoy them to this day. BTW... I have had my PSA and DRE's and caught my prostate cancer early hopefully it will be cured by the treatments I had last summer. ~ Pete Morrow
It is with immense sadness that I learned of the passing of this wonderful troubadour. His songs, rich with stories of life and love, touched so many people in ways he will never know. This loss will be felt for years to come.
He has, however, left us with a bit of himself. He has left us with the gift of his songs that will ring in our hearts and ears until we leave this world. Be at peace. ~

My deepest condolences to you and your family, Jean, on the loss of your husband. Heaven
is so much the richer today for Dan's presence and we are so much the poorer for his
absence.
I was terribly saddened to hear the news of Dan's death. His music will
live on for generations -- beautiful, inspiring and timeless lyrics and
melodies. I wish his family peace and comfort at this time.
I am so sad for Jean, for Dan's family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of this great singer/songwriter who has left an indelible mark on so many of us with his beautiful life and beautiful music. Rest in peace, Dan. You will remain in our hearts always. May God give you peace, Jean and family. ~ Christina Haltom-Farrar, Estes Park, CO
