I was saddened to hear of Dan's passing on Sunday. I started listening to Dan about the
same time I started dating my wife, our love grew with his music. Now thirty years later
we still love the songs he had written. Dan's music was a huge part of our lives through
the years, and will still be. His music will live on. My thoughts and prayers go out to
Jean and the rest of his family. Thank you Dan, you will be missed. ~ Mike
Dear Dan,
As a fan from a far away country, Taiwan, I'd like to thank you for your wonderful music,
which soothes and calms many hearts and souls all over the world.
It's heart breaking that you left us, but we will always remember you and pray for your
family. You had made a difference in the world, and you will continue doing so through
your beautiful music.
My condolences to your family. God be with them. ~
Rosanna C. from Taiwan
I was so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I have been thinking of him frequently this past
couple of weeks, and just yesterday was walking in the park to The Innocent Age. I am a
research coordinator in oncology research and have been dealing with patients with
advanced prostate cancer. I am a long time fan of Dan Fogelberg and had the privilege of
seeing him at Red Rocks when he performed an acoustic concert. It was a beautiful night
and one I will always cherish. I am so grateful that he was able to share his gifts of
music and poetry for all of us. My heartfelt sympathies go to his loved ones. I will not
forget his journey as I continue to care for cancer patients in Colorado.
You are a beautiful spirit and are a blessing to this earth.
I have been a great fan of Dan Fogelberg since the late 70s and am sure
saddened to here of his passing. His many songs will carry his legacy far
into the future, though. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and
many friends and fans during this time. ~

RIP Legacy.
I feel as if my own "innocent age" has been quite literally washed away by
the "sand and the foam." I am saddened and heartbroken over the loss of a
man who was the soundtrack to my coming of age. Dan would not want us to
grieve. He would want us to celebrate his life. But we do grieve. It is
terribly unfortunate that his exquisite voice will never be heard on
this mortal earth again. I thank Dan tremendously for all the wonderful
memories he has given me over the years. I think we all aged several
years today. Some people you wish could just live forever. Peace and
blessings on his family for their loss.
I feel as though part of my past is gone forever. I look back at my college
years and remember the soothing words of Dan's music. I look to the future and
listening to Dan's music over and over again; in fact, I recently purchased
Dan's Love Songs and play it every day on the way to work. I thank you for
all the joy you gave me in my life, and all the joy and remembrances your music
will bring me in the future. Thank goodness I got to see you in concert in
Atlanta in the early 2000's. I loved sitting in the open air listening to
you. Now I will sit and listen and feel a loss. Wishing I could attend just
one more concert. See you in Heaven, Dan.
Although I never had the chance to meet Dan, his music touched my soul.
My
brother brought home his Souvenirs album when I was in about 6th grade. I
think I fell in love with Dan the first time I heard that album! In fact,
my most favorite song is still "There's a Place in the World for a
Gambler." I hope he realized just how much his music touched all who heard
& sang along. There was so much of his own heart & soul in those songs. God
gave us a wonderful minstrel in Dan & he will be missed. Jean, know that
you are in our thoughts and prayers. ~
Lisa Volkert - Fort Wayne, IN
Man oh man,
What a long and winding road we weave. You brought me
and my wife so much for so many years and now you are
gone. That doesn't seem fair to any of us. You were
indeed a special sunrise and a quiet sunset. I have
been a musician for well since I was 10 and I am also
56. I can't tell you how many times while playing a
gig that I have played "Leader of the Band" and cried
while doing it thinking of my own father, that's a
hard song to get through when you love and miss
someone so dear. I can only say thank God for you and
your music, for they have meant so much to me, my wife
Debbie and my own music. I know I will think of you
now whenever I play your songs and I will let the
crowd know it was your song in dedication to you. You
were one of my biggest hero's. Thanks for being you.
Traveler on the road. ~

You will be missed, Dan. Your concerts were wonderful. Your music was
unique and unforgettable. To Dan's family; You will be in my thoughts and
prayers. Peace ~ Eileen
Sincere thoughts of condolence on your loss - our loss. His music
brought me peace instantly, allowed me a good cry when the moments were
just right, and left me with visions that always made me smile. Since I
was a young girl I have loved Dan's music, they hold a special place
with wonderful, warm memories. I remember where I was when I first heard "Same Old Lang Syne" and the feelings it brought me then I can still stir
up now. No words will ease your pain, erase your loss but perhaps just
knowing how highly regarded a person he was to all those who live their
life for music and a good story will allow you some measure of peace and
satisfaction. I hope he is up in heaven now getting together with the
other great story tellers and Jimmy Buffet's other good friend - Bill
Bradley - and singing a song of joy for the life he led, the love he
gave and the love he received.
May his soul rest with God, in peace. ~

I cannot express how sorry I am to hear this news. My condolences to
his wife Jean. Dan's music was my inspiration for the last 29 years. He
will be very missed and thought of often.
Kind Regards ~

I am so sorry to hear of Dan's death. Many of his songs are favorites
that I have cherished for years, especially, "Lonely in Love". It is
sad to know such a great talent is no longer with us to share in the
times of our lives with his beautiful melodies. I did not know him
personally, but felt close to him through our shared love of music. May
God be with all those who morn this tragic loss, especially his family,
thank you for sharing him with us. ~
Denise Williams
God Bless you for the legacy of your wonderful music. My deepest
condolences to the Fogelberg family and those others who were lucky enough
to know him. ~ Mary Henderson
Jean, Our prayers are with you and Dan's family during this time. Thank you
for being the love of Dan's life and for staying by his side. Dan's music has
brought joy into my life for over 30 years. His beautiful voice and lyrics
spoke deeply to my heart and he is responsible for the awakening within a
youthful me. I cherish his Christmas album, especially this year. I am thankful
I saw Dan in concert many times and look forward to meeting him in heaven.
May God bring you comfort and bless you with His presence. ~

Thank you, Dan Fogelberg, for being such a sweet and precious part of my life. I was with you in concert in Jackson, MS when you had your beginning in the music industry. Your sweet legend of love lives eternally through your beautiful music. My heartfelt prayers to your family. You will live in my heart forever. Rest in sweet bliss, my beautiful friend. ~ Debbie McGowan - Jackson, MS
Dan was an inspiration to many and I will miss his wonderful lyrics
and
beautiful voice
I am so sorry and saddened at the news of Mr. Fogelberg's passing. His music
has always been like a warm comforting blanket that you always turn to. His
music and lyrics always touched me. I grew up listening to him and all the
wonderful love songs he created. He will be missed, a sad chapter in music
history has been written today and a magical mark has been left behind.

I salute a great musician. I am grateful for his songs. They remain in my soul, as well as in the souls of ten thousands of people, I'm sure. My sincere condo lances to his family and close friends. ~ R. Haasnoot, Rijnsburg, The Netherlands
I have read a portion of the notes posted here, and I will try not to
hit on all of the exact same tones. My sadness at Dan's passing is so
great; it is difficult to compose this. His writing abilities, both
lyric and melody were so incredible, and so wholly appealing to me.
Dear Jean and family: I simply want you to know one thing, I
currently have a 15 year old son, who hums, sings, and plays (guitar)
portions of at least one of Dan's songs on nearly a daily basis. It is
a true testimony to Dan's talents, and one that will likely live on for
generations. As I stumble on how to conclude this note, all I can think
of saying is; Dan, thank you, thank you so very much for sharing your
talents with us. ~ Keith (Ames, Iowa).
Thanks for the gifts of your music and life, for which WE can never repay.
May the peace that passes all understanding surround you Jean, and all the family, today and always. I hope you might find love in the pages that are sure to follow as Dan was so loved by all of us here. There will never be another like him, which makes us so grateful that he followed his heart and sang it to us. May he rest now. Peace in Christ. ~ C.Rigano
My God, I'm sitting here crying as if I've lost a good friend and then I
realize I have. Jean, Dan was a bright spot in this dark world and gave us
all something special in his words, music and beautiful voice that we can
carry with us forever. Thank you for sharing him with all of us and I hope
you can find peace with his passing. I can hear "Leader of the Band" a
million times and still choke up every time I listen to it. I will never
forget how beautiful he was and what he meant to many, many people. God
Bless you.
I just want to say that I found Dan Fogelberg to be simply amazing. I have enjoyed a great many of his works and my all time favorite song of his can be found on the 2 Album or CD set titled The Innocent Age. In fact, when I took my sister to see him perform at the Oscar Mayor Theatre on State St in Madison WI a few yrs ago, he played that very song and had mentioned it was one of his own personal favorites. I got goose bumps when he said that and then began to play it. The song's name is "The Reach". There was just something about that one particular song that just grabbed a hold of me. I also got to see Dan in concert the summer of '92 at the WI State Fair. The summer after I got out of the Army. My best friend and I went and it was just a magnificent show as was the evening in Madison. Was so awesome that I got to take my sister to see him as well. I know she thoroughly enjoyed the show too. So, I want to share my deepest heartfelt condolences with Dan's wife and family. What a true blessing it must have been to be around such a wonderful man. To Dan, I want to say, thanks for the memories and everything. God Speed. In HIS peace ~

In the 70's I was a young military wife who got through being homesick my
listening to Dan;at the time the song was "Illinois" (where I was from). Each decade I've had my favorite songs of Dan's and can always remember what
was going on in my life at the time. His beautiful music will always be
with us all. I am so sorry for your loss Jean, but I know Dan is looking down
upon you, sweetly playing his guitar and singing his music once again. We
will all miss him so very much.
Many thanks for the gift of Dan Fogelberg's time on earth with all of us. He was a master songwriter who really touched my heart with his melodies and lyrics.
I could also tell by seeing him in concert that he was a deep down good person.
My condolences to Dan's friends, many fans, and most of all, Dan's wife and family.
We are all honored that he let us share his life on earth with him.
I will always play his music because his songs touched me more than any other. ~

A very sad day for all who loved the "living legacy." For over 30 years,
starting with the very first album, the voice and the songs have been a very
big part of my life. My prayers and my heart go out to Jean, the family and
for all the fans who have lost such an incredible man/musician. You may be
gone, but your voice will remain. You will always be truly the "Living
Legacy" ~

Growing up in Boulder, then moving to New Orleans later on in life was such a change. But not many people that I haven't had direct contact in life have made an effect more than Mr. Dan Fogelberg. If the love of life through family and friends, and the joys of little things weren't reinforced through Dan, I don't know where it did. You could feel the love in his songs, and if anything, I hope that I could always feel that way too. He will be sadly missed by me, until the time I get to hear him sing again , on the other side. God bless to Dan and all his family. He'll be in my prayers from this day on. ~ Lee LeMond - New Orleans, La.

Dan managed to create a sense of community across time and space and it is with
all these people, I mourn the loss of him in this world.
One can only hope that the collective caring and love felt for Dan by the thousands and thousands of people touched by his life and work can, in some small measure, bring comfort to those for whom this loss is infinitely more personal - his wife, his family and friends. Dan, we will always treasure the legacy you left us. May you find joy and rest in heaven. ~

Winter seems to always be cold and gloomy in the Pacific Northwest, but
today it seems even the trees are saddened by the passing of one of the
last, best, musicians from my time; Dan Fogelberg. Looking out my
window, the trees seem to be bending almost to the ground and weeping
with the weight of the water on their branches.
Dan's music has made a huge difference in my life and will continue to
be a source of inspiration to me in the times to come. I want to send my
heartfelt condolences to his wife and family on their loss which is
shared by so many of us. Thank you for sharing this incredible "quiet
man of music" with the world. ~

When the song "Same Old Lang Syne" was first released, I have
remembrance of an emotionally affected DJ (at the song's conclusion)
saying: "nobody paints a portrait like Dan Fogelberg." In this age of
vapid and pointless music being thrust at us from a failing industry,
always remember Dan as someone who could paint a picture with words and
music, who produced beautiful tributes and was able to convey matters of
the heart many of us cannot or are uncomfortable with. I'll bet there is
at least one of his songs that "hit the heartstrings" in every one of
us, whether you consider yourself a fan or not. What he did with his
music and lyrics is something we may not see reproduced for a long time.
He was and remains one of my all-time favorite artists. I am sure the
Reach now "mourns for the old friend she'll look on no more."
Farewell Dan, and thank you for all your wonderful music. ~

Dear family & friends,
My good friend Victor named his son after Daniel and my husband Kirk - his
name is Daniel Kirk, born in 1984.
My husband and I saw Dan several times in concert in Houston and Austin,
Texas. The most memorable one was an acoustic set. We had a trio of flutes
play "Longer" at my wedding in 1981. We are still married.
There is rarely a week that goes by that I do not pop in his CD, his words
and songs are timeless. Thank you Daniel, It is a good life when we touch
others in a positive manner.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
"Footprints in the sand of time were not
made by folks who stood still." ~ Unknown
We will miss you Dan. Thank you for the gift of your life and music. Thank
you for constantly fighting for our environment. Your "living legacy" will
live on in all our hearts. Our prayers are with you, your family, friends and
all your fans.
"May you walk within His footsteps as you journey ever on." God Bless You. Love ~

I was saddened to hear the news, and will certainly spend much time with Dan's music over the next little while and reflect on his impact on our lives and times. God Bless ~ R.M. from Montreal
"Leader of the Band" will always make me think of my Dad.
Rest in peace Dan.
I truly am deeply saddened by the world's loss of this amazing person. I am
from the Peoria area, growing up with his music and having great pride in
our hometown guy. His music brought comfort to me in times of sorrow,
happiness at times it was needed, and acknowledgement and remembrances of
love in my life. I hope Jean, his family, friends and many others whose
lives Dan touched will find his words in song an eternal embrace of his
spirit. My heartfelt condolence to all who loved him ~ Lou Ann Remeikis -

Dan Fogelberg, one of my idols. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. His music carried me through some rough times when I was young. It was my hope to have the opportunity to see him in concert someday, but, sadly, it wasn't meant to be.
He was a beacon in so many ways; through his music, but also his commitment to the environment, and what he did to get the word "out there" about prostate cancer is a blessing, I'm sure, for many men. A fine, thoughtful, talented gentleman. He will be missed.
I was saddened today to hear of Dan's passing. I never knew him, but I knew
his spirit so well, as millions of other fans did. He will be sorely
missed, but his spirit remains with us all. Godspeed Dan Fogelberg. ~
Rick in Farmington Hills, Michigan
Dearest Dan, rest in peace. I love listening to your voice and will continue to do so. My thoughts go out to Jean, your family and friends. I remember singing "Longer" as a choir member in high school. God bless you, Jean, your family and friends. ~

To the family of Dan, you have my deepest sympathy. We have lost a truly great musician,
and person. I have been fortunate to see him several times in Pittsburgh,PA. I am really
happy that I got to enjoy him with my wife at my side. I am a guitar player and I have
enjoyed playing many DF songs over the years; "Part of the Plan", "A Place In The World For A Gambler", "As The
Raven Flies." Well let's keep up the fight against this disease, I have lost many people in
my own family to cancer so I know what it feels like, and its stinks. The raven has
flown, but the leader will always be in our hearts.~ Tim W.
Just a few weeks ago we were sitting around watching a compilation of
Dan's concerts and we all wondered how he was doing. We got our answer
today. What sadness we are all feeling, like a piece of our heart died
with him.
This man had the most beautiful spirit ever. You could see it on his
face. As I watched a video on "Nether Lands" (in my mind the most
BEAUTIFUL, moving song ever written). I looked towards the heavens and I
could almost see sweet Dan walking down the golden road right up to
heaven with angels by his side.
You will live on in your music. You are whole again, there is no more
pain, only glory and goodness. Sleep peacefully, you are in your
"Nether Lands" now. ~
Cristy Macias-Allen - Atl, Ga.
Dan, you burst upon the scene during my freshman year of college and were my "go to" guy when it came time to romance the ladies. Thanks for all the great memories. You will forever be a part of my "innocent years". ~

You will be so, so missed. Thank goodness your music will live on forever. What a gift your music is and will always be to the world. Thanks.
I'm so sad for your loss, our loss, the world's loss. I've been a huge
fan for so many years and was so fortunate to see Dan in concert several
times with ticket stubs to prove it. I learned to play guitar listening
to his songs in the 80s. I was a teenager then, so I was simply
rediscovering a living legend.
One of my favorite memories is seeing Dan perform in Memphis, TN, in the
90s at the Mud Island outdoor amphitheater. The weather didn't hold up
so it rained during the entire concert. The fans were all wet and the
band couldn't come out for a while, but finally Dan came out and said
that if we were willing to sit in the rain, he was going to give us a
show. They played the whole show plus encores, and he even sat on the
edge of the stage and played a "new" R&B song and made us all laugh at
his jokes. And if I remember correctly, his "twin from a different
mother" came out and played for us, too. I took my parents to this show.
We bought flimsy yellow rain-jackets that only helped to collect puddles
of water to sit in, but nothing was going to drive us away from that
show. What a special memory for me now. I knew that we were watching a
musical legend and to this day I am mesmerized by his talent.
Thank you for sharing Dan with us. I loved his music and his message.
God bless your family during this difficult time. ~ Suzanne Dobbs -

Mr. Fogelberg is in my thoughts and prayers.
"Captured Angel" defined my youth and love of music. Now, his "cage door's
been flung wide open." And I believe we will see and hear him again.
May you, his family and friends, find peace. ~

I have.
I'm a 20-year veteran of Seattle Men's Chorus

No one inspired me more than Dan the man to do what I do. Just last night I was leaving
and looked up at the "the ring around the moon" and there was "a chill in the air" and was
thinking of Dan not knowing he'd passed on that morning. He was one of God's gifts to us
all. God's comfort to the family. ~ Tom and Patty Lane - Nashville, TN
"
Wealthy the spirit that knows its own flight;
Stealthy the hunter who slays his own fright;
Blessed the traveler who journeys the length of light."Many times these words have inspired me. Blessings to Dan and his family as
he travels the light.
I will also take to my grave the music Dan wrote. "Same Old Lang Syne"
will always allow me to escape the rat race of today to my teenage
years.
May your soul rest in Heaven Dan. You will be missed here on earth. ~

Trying to see through my tears. My prayers were not answered. I prayed for
Dan and Jean every night for years. Jean's comfort may be in knowing that her
beloved is not suffering anymore. I hope she has the love and support of
family or friends now and in the future. Don't abandon her even when you think
she is ok. She will always miss him. Dan was such a shining man. He left us so
much. ~ Gail in Colorado

I was in high school when I first started listening to Dan's music. Nether Lands was my
first taste of his music. I love that album and every album that came after it. His words
have been an inspiration to me and will continue to be. My heart goes out to his friends
and family at this difficult time. Thanks Dan. ~ Lori - Roselle Park, NJ
Dan,Your songs will always be in my heart and I will miss your beautiful smile. You were Gods gift and your songs were powerful and written from the heart. Jean, remain strong for Dan's legacy lives on with all his fans and new fans that have not been born yet. It is a legacy I cherish and fills my heart with joy. May you live on my friend and thanks for sharing your beautiful soul. ~ Marc Zdimal - Rancho Santa Margarita. CA
Music can put you back in a time and place. I have listened to Dan's
music since 1972 and always enjoyed it but it became special on a move from
NYC to SF in 1975. The trip, Dan's music, and my hopes and dreams and good
fortune are forever lodged in my memory of that music.
To his making a difference. ~

Lovely Fogelberg family, This is one of the most sad days in my life. A musical hero left today.
Dan you gave me so many lucky moments and until
yesterday it was a dream to see you in Germany live on stage and fully
recovered. Your incredible voice will be an ever burning fire in my
heart. May God welcome you with a guitar to play and a stage to pray. ~

I remember being in a record store/music shop in Pekin
looking through the albums. I was looking at the
Souvenirs album when Dan's dad came up behind me and
said "that's my son", and encouraged me to buy the
record. Well I already had the album and knew it was
Mr. Fogelberg (he taught at my high school), I just
was curious to see if he would notice. I used to play
the song "Illinois" when living in New York. It was a
balm when lonely and homesick. Sometimes I almost
feel like I knew Dan, having taken lessons from people
he hung out with in Peoria. I knew his music and felt
the same feelings he expressed. He helped me when
life looked so dark at times. Thank you Dan Fogelberg ~ Kent
Dan you will be missed more than you know. You had such an impact
through your music. God speed, Dan.

A fan that grew up to your music
I was sad to hear of Dan's passing today. I've long been a fan of Dan's
music, and still recall an amazing concert he played when I was a
freshman at Washington State University in Pullman Washington (probably
1983). It was a solo concert, and I was amazed what a truly amazing
musician he was playing both guitar and piano. The sound he produced
was much more than I thought could have come from a single player. His
music brings me back to a more youthful day and always will. Thanks
Dan.
I am deeply saddened to learn of Dan's passing. He will be missed and
remembered by so many that were touched by his music. I am not
surprised to learn that the way he lived with his illness was an
inspiration to those close to him. He always seemed a brave spirit who
knew his heart and went his own way. Journey on, Dan. ~ Fred Jaicks -
Flossmoor, IL
There are no words. My heart was always full when I listened to Dan's
lyrics and music. He seemed to want to write about the things that mattered to me.
Now my heart is broken. My deepest and most positive energy for
healing. That I can possibly send, I send to his family and friends with gratitude and
love. ~ Lisa Gottlieb
I go back with Dan Fogelberg's music to the beginning of his recordings. I recall with great pleasure and fond memories his "To the Morning" and all the way through with all his successes. "Same Old Lang Syne" is the telling of Dan's own experience one New Year's eve and I play it with bitter sweetness and recall my own similar experience on another New Year's eve. This year it will have a great deal more bitterness than sweetness with the way too early departure of Dan. Lastly, I can't tell you what a pleasure it was for my wife, Sandy, and I to see Dan a few (4 or5?) years ago in Wallingford, Ct. It was a thrill for us. His performance was out of this world and it made clear that he still had "it." He hadn't lost anything off his fastball. And I remarked to Sandy that he was a consummate pro, so in touch with his craft. We will miss him a lot, but he will be with us and will brighten and ennoble us each time we hear his music. Love and warmest best wishes to Jean and entire family and dear friends. ~ Buzzy O'Neill
I will keep his family and friends in my prayers. My deepest condolences on your loss. There is nothing more I can say. ~

Thoughts and prayers to Dan's family, relatives and friends. I am just another
of the countless souls that Dan's music and lyrics touched. I will forever

My heart is very heavy and filled with immeasurable sadness. No words can express the impact of your music and lyrics on my life. May you rest in peace as the music plays "ever on." Our prayers go out to Jean and the family.
To Dan's wife Jean and his family, my deepest sympathies at this time of sorrow. Dan was a truly beautiful and talented person. He has touched so many with his wonderful voice and music. His songs "The River" and "River of Souls" have a very special meaning now. God Bless Dan and may he rest in peace.
I absolutely loved everything this man did. What an artist he was. I followed his music for 25 years. When I heard the news I felt as though someone I knew personally had died. I felt like part of my life past had left. He gave me such a gift with his music and I am so grateful.
Bye Dan, give Jesus a big hug for me. ~ Margaret Goodnight
Music lives forever; would that it were so with those whose spirit
kindles such immortality.
You will be sorely missed.
To Jean and all of Dan's loved ones,
Our deepest condolences go out to you. He left us way too soon. May the
legacy of his amazing songs be living comfort to you.
My father is a prostate cancer survivor. Early detection saved his life. We
hope everyone will support Dan's plea for all men over 50 to be checked
regularly.

Dan
Fogelberg. Thank you for the wonderful memories.
You have helped to make my family whole. Miss you. Jean God has blessed you with Dan.
Hope you feel the love we are all sending you. ~ The Louviere Crew
Dan Fogelberg was the voice of my youth. We grew up together, so to
speak and I learned life, not from the loud songs of the 70's, but from
Dan Fogelberg's heart. "Leader of the Band"," Run for the Roses"," Magic
Every Moment" and "River of Souls" all taught me of life, love and that
which reaches beyond this pale. A part of me has departed, but he is far
from dead. The rich legacy that is Dan Fogelberg will go on forever. My prayer is that this final journey
will bring peace to Dan and abiding
comfort for Jean who I will hold close in my constant prayers. Godspeed,
Dan, into the bright morning of the soul. ~

In the soundtrack of my life, there are few artists who get as much air time as Dan
Fogelberg. I had the privilege of co-designing "River of Souls" and although we never met,
his music has forever linked us. Knowing that at only age 10, my own son sings the songs
of his musical genius, is a legacy we can both be happy with. Rest peacefully now, you
have lifted us all. ~

Your music touched my heart and soul. Rest in Peace and God Bless.
I'm deeply saddened to hear of Dan's passing. I feel as though I've lost a
life long friend. I know that, although the man may be gone, his spirit
lives on in his music and in the lives he's touched. My condolences to his
family, friends and my fellow fans. ~ Andy in Ohio.
My sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Dan Fogelberg. I cannot begin to express the many hours of pleasure he has provided to me. His music especially reminds me of college, because we listened to him A LOT! Every time I heard the words, "just for a moment I was back in school," from the song "Same Old Lang Syne," I truly do feel "that old familiar pain." I am thankful that his music will continue on. And I am very sad that he had to go so soon. I only saw him once in Atlanta, GA (in concert), but I went to sleep to his music last night, after hearing the news, and I have thought of him all day, today. His legacy continues on. ~ Susie W. I was saddened by the death of Dan Fogelberg. I first saw him in concert for free for the troops, in 1988 when I was stationed in San Francisco, CA. He made it a point that the military troops got to see and enjoy a concert. After the concert he came down to wish us all well and took pictures with us and signed autographs. His people where welling him it was time for him to go to make a flight to some place else. He made it a point to stay and sign everyone's tee shirt, program, hat, etc. Until the last soldier was gone. Not to many people in the business are as caring and was so down to earth as he was and had such a beautiful smile as he did. Every time I hear his songs I am taken back to 1988 and Dan Fogelberg. We have the honor of calling him one of the greatest songwriters of my generation. I pray that the Lord give his wife and family the comfort of knowing that he is not suffering anymore since I too lost my father to cancer. Dan Fogelberg you will be missed. And know you are the leader of God's band. Your music will always live on in all of us who love you. God Bless. ~ Peggy Hubbard - Belleville,IL

To the surviving loved ones of Dan Fogelberg:
It was with great surprise and sadness that my wife and I heard today of the passing of Dan at age 56. We were so shocked and then saddened by this news. While most news blurbs credit Dan with such songs as "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne", I think my favorite song by Dan was "Longer", a song I cannot hear without thinking of my beloved wife of nearly 30 years. Please know we loved Dan's music very much, and will deeply miss him. May God's grace be felt by all of you at this very difficult time. Sincerely ~ Andy and Nancie Smith
Your wonderful and graceful songwriting has touched me since I heard songs like "Longer" and "Nether Lands" when I was a young man.
God bless you Dan.
